I think the issue is that the Birthdays calendar is not an actual Google Calendar per se--i.e., if you went to Google Calendar on the web, you wouldn't see that as But since it isn't an actual Google Calendar, it looks like you can't actually set phone notifications for it. Each of your email/ "calendar" can have its own defauls color/notifications. If you choose the "Use browser notifications" setting but you don't allow your browser to show Google Calendar notifications, you won't see any notifications.
Note: To get notifications on your computer, you need to have Google Calendar open in your browser. Reply DLK1 likes this.
