Climb mode on a rear shock puts your drive forces to the ground more efficiently, gets your weight forward and head angle steep. although I assume by 'fully closed' it turned in the - direction?? We would like to hear from you. I've done that to a RS Monarch and it blew the lockout and the second time to blew the nitrogen into the oil....

I doubt you've ridden a Fox CTD equipped bike. It doesn't involve breaking into the cartridge and should take a good mechanic about 20-30 minutes.
