I genuinely can't bear to do any more than a few, and you have lllllllllllllots. After some more research I came across this workaround, and it actually does work. But I cannot work out why animation is stopped when I preload the image in memory. If you are going to postback, then it will not appear because the client side changes get reset when you do a postback.

Bummer. But now not working in Google Chrome and Mozilla. I had him throw together a simplified version and had him validate the code to eliminate other errors that may be contributing to the problem.
